This video shows the premises of Mandalay University filled with smoke as a fire broke out after the quake. The earthquake resulted in at least 3,500 deaths in Myanmar. The powerful tremors led to widespread destruction, including collapsed buildings, downed bridges, and buckled roads, with the most severe damage concentrated in central Myanmar.

Speaking to reporters through a supporter at Kansai airport in Osaka Prefecture early Thursday, Pyae Lyan Aung, 27, said he refused to return home of his own accord and that he will apply for refugee status.
